At the genesis of this collaboration, Founder and Artistic Director Dr Samuel Ross looked to his peers; exemplary artists and thought-leaders in the global community. What followed is an ode to the pursuit of creative expression, refined items designed to form an integral component within the artist’s uniform.

Documenting stories and practices of such artisans, Founding Director of design firm Food New York, architect Dong-Ping Wong, and award-winning industrial designer Nifemi Marcus-Bello. Both artists, masters in their chosen fields, introspectively examine what an icon means to them. Captured in their studio environments, New York and Lagos, respectively, a mutual school of thought emerges.

Harnessing community through artistic expression is a shared principle of A-COLD-WALL*’s design ethos, realised here through the refined simplicity of the Chuck Taylor; celebrating the universal truth of functional design.
